What are the advantages of multilingual desktop publishing?
Multilingual desktop publishing or foreign-language typesetting means that you create your content in its usual layout and format, for example using InDesign, Photoshop or MS Word, and after translation, you receive back perfectly laid-out target language files in the same file format.
Our translation memory system, Transit NXT, can work with all current file formats and will import your file in its original format.
Once it has been worked on by our skilled translation team, the translated text is exported back into the original format: The translations are automatically inserted into the original layout – time-consuming and error-prone copy and pasting processes are a thing of the past. After the quality checking step, our expert desktop publishing team will adapt the raw export layout to the various target languages.
The team will take into account any cultural conventions and characteristics that could have an effect on the layout, design and graphics. Our DTP specialists have an eye for the linguistic refinement of a document’s layout as a result of their daily contact with different languages and fonts. For languages from further afield, we work closely with the DTP teams in our global STAR network; especially for CJK languages (Chinese, Japanese and Korean), knowledge of the language and a localised version of the DTP software are a must.
