Posted on: April 14th, 2022 by Yannick Beringer No Comments

We are pleased to announce that we were successful in our surveillance audit, conducted on 31 March and 1 April 2022 by two auditors from PÜG Prüf und Überwachungsgesellschaft mbH.

The new certificate confirms that our quality management system complies with all necessary requirements and plays an integral role in the everyday running of our business.

Certified ISO 9001:2015 for 15 years: Many years of continual improvements to our internal quality management processes have helped us to pass this audit without any exceptions.

This gives our customers the assurance that they can trust in the quality management system that underpins our business and our standards:

  • Our quality management system works to ensure that project management, IT, DTP and internal translators all follow the same unified processes.
  • Suppliers are chosen in accordance with a strictly defined process that complies with the standards set out in ISO 17100.
  • Employee qualifications and continuing professional development also fall within the scope of our quality management system: Regular internal training courses are offered and completed.
  • Our customers value our expertise and the close collaboration that they have with STAR Deutschland. Regular surveys have confirmed this, which spurs us on to deliver further service improvements.

We would like to thank all our employees for their support in reaching this goal and we are proud of what we have achieved together.

Our information security management system (ISMS) is certified according to ISO 27001

Posted on: July 15th, 2021 by Yannick Beringer No Comments

This proves that information security is a top priority within our organisation.

Working with personal, confidential or classified information comes with stringent requirements for the technical, procedural and organisational capabilities of an organisation.

The trust that our customers place in us and their expectations in terms of confidentiality, availability and integrity of transmitted data can only be fully met with extensive expertise and a high level of commitment.

The technical and organisational measures that have long been established and adopted in our processes have been checked in detail by an independent auditor and the underlying ISMS has been successfully certified in accordance with ISO 27001.

State-of-the-art IT infrastructure and regular awareness training about information security guarantees that customer data is suitably protected from the moment it is shared with us through to the delivery of the translations. One less thing for our customers to worry about.

The STAR article appears in the BDÜ collective volume titled “Translation Quality in the Age of Digital Transformation”

Posted on: November 23rd, 2020 by Yannick Beringer No Comments

STAR proudly presents: Our colleagues, Birgit M. Hoppe and Birgitta Geischberg have added to the existing work by Jean-Marc Dalla-Zuanna and Dr. Christopher Kurz with their article “Quality of terminology processes in corporate contexts/Agreeing and harmonizing terminology”.

In this age of digital transformation, we are faced with the challenge of clearly converting the hazy notion of translation quality into a world dominated by concepts such as key figures, artificial intelligence and automation. We are confronted on an almost daily basis with the redefining of our profession and work environment.

The new BDÜ collective volume is a bold and successful attempt to bring some order to the system and outlines a strong link between theory and practice. On the one hand, it reflects findings, tips, strategies and suggestions from day-to-day work, but on the other hand it also addresses basic theories and offers a reflective and multifaceted introduction to the issues surrounding quality and translation.

It includes considerations about translation quality, factors that have a significant influence on translation quality, importance of the elements of the translational ecosystem for achieving translation quality, as well as application in practice. Read more

“Terminology management” is a key phrase in the standalone section of the 550-page volume that explores factors that have a major impact on translation quality. While extremely important, the impact of consistent, well-managed corporate terminology is often overlooked.

This is reason enough for STAR to put the topic in the spotlight as part of STAR terminology weeks, running from now until the end of the year.

Marketing through obstacles – different rules of play are in force in China

Posted on: March 5th, 2020 by Yannick Beringer No Comments

Do you use Chinese translations as part of your marketing campaigns in the Chinese market? Then you should get advice from STAR about the Chinese Advertisement Law.

China is a vast sales market, and expanding into the region looks very attractive for B2B and B2C businesses – but it is also very complex. Much of the regulatory landscape differs from that of the European sphere. There are also different rules for advertising, which companies must abide by. A 1:1 translation of a European advert is to be avoided at all costs, as the Chinese Advertisement Law includes provision for fines if certain words and phrases are used!

STAR offers you the complete package – translation of your marketing text into Chinese as well as a subsequent linguistic check of the translation for the most frequent problematic phrases.

Take advantage of our skills and our knowledge of the Chinese Advertisement Law and minimise your liability risks!
