“Translation Services”

As of March 16, 2017, STAR, represented by Dr. Arnd Flügel, has been participating in the DIN standards committee “Translation Services” (sub-committee NA 105-00-03-01 UA). During the founding meeting in Berlin on March 16, 2017, Dr. Arnd Flügel was accepted on to the committee as a new member.

This new sub-committee is focused on the requirements of the translation process and belongs to the committee NA 105-00-03 AA “Translation and Interpreting Services”, which has been divided into the sub-committees Translation and Interpreting. The committee is responsible for defining the standard DIN EN ISO 17100:2015, which has proven to be of tantamount importance for our business sector.

STAR, as one of the largest providers of translation services and language technology, is interested very much in contributing to the theme of standardization, which is very important for the translation sector. Models and metrics for assuring and evaluating the quality of translations are important topics closely related to our daily business, and we hope for a fruitful exchange of ideas. Self-learning Outlook Plugin Wins Innovation Award

IT Innovation Award

At Cebit 2016, the IT Innovation Award in the category “Office Management” was awarded to MindReader for Outlook. The STAR Group plugin supports Outlook users with text suggestions from previous emails and thus eliminates the need for time-consuming sentence formulation.

MindReader for Outlook is especially suitable for SMEs: The users can get started immediately and use text proposals in the very first email after installation. Trainings are as unnecessary as collecting and maintaining standard formulations or text modules because MindReader automatically and continuously learns from sent emails. This also convinced the jury consisting of prestigious professors, IT industry experts, researchers, and journalists.

“In the professional environment of technical writers, our ‘authoring memory’ tools are already well established,” says Josef Zibung, CEO of STAR Group. “With MindReader for Outlook, we now bring professional technology as a streamlined and simple solution to the office environment. This innovation benefits everyone who writes emails – so, practically everyone.”

MindReader for Outlook is available as a standalone or corporate license. The standalone license can be purchased via the STAR Group online shop.

About the IT Innovation Award

Since 2004, the Initiative Mitteltstand (SME Initiative) awards the annual IT Innovation Award. An independent jury evaluates the submitted solutions according to innovative content (innovation, product maturity, and future orientation), benefits (recognizable benefits, impact on profitability, increase in efficiency), as well as suitability for SMEs (relevance for SMEs, practicality, implementation). Transit Service Pack 8: New possibilities for project managers and translators

With the new Service Pack 8, the STAR Group has significantly expanded the functionality of the Transit NXT translation memory software at no additional cost to the user.

The focus of this release is on segment-level revision management for multistage translation and review processes. It lets users filter by revision, compare different versions of a project and export project-specific revision reports.

Projects from other TM systems are also supported through additional third-party formats. By pretranslating projects using your own translation memory, you can further increase the speed and efficiency of the translation process.

The machine translation feature has also been expanded with additional machine translation systems (such as Microsoft Translator, MyMemory and AsiaOnline).

With the new WebVTT format, STAR is underscoring the growing importance of subtitle localization with segment-precise playback of audiovisual context.

Prior to the Service Pack, new plug-ins for InDesign and FrameMaker have been released. With the latest plug-ins, Transit NXT also supports InDesign CS2 to CC 2014 and FrameMaker 7 to 12 with synchronized document viewing in the integrated PDF Viewer.

The package includes additional improvements to quality assurance, project sharing, segment filtering and the TermStar NXT integrated terminology management system.

Zanella doubles up at Magny-Cours

Christopher Zanella

Christopher Zanella has completed a double at Magny-Cours, winning the second race from Alex Brundle and Mirko Bortolotti.

Speaking after the race, Zanella said: "I like this track a lot and I'm very happy to be leading the championship. I had a good start in the race and had a little fight with Brundle going into the first corner. After that I pushed a bit for three or four laps to make a gap and then just tried to drive consistently."

The next round is at Spa-Francorchamps on 24/25/26 June with official F2 testing taking place on June 7 at Snetterton.

Christopher Zanella greatly represents STAR with his dynamism, vigor and ambition. We wish Christopher all the best for the upcoming races.
